Mercedes g wagen 280ge military spec clutch?
Hi my dads clutch after 21 years has finally gone and need to know the best one to get! I heard u can use merc van clutches is this true? And where's a cheap place to order them from?
Many thanks
Joe
Luk Clutches, an oe part is equally good as M/Benz supplied clutch as far as I reckon, based on an average of 6,000 miles useage, over the 21 years; your farthers 'G' should have averaged 126,000 miles.
Given my limited experience of manuals, I can not re-call any clutches being replaced at even 70-80,000 miles intervals. So it would not be surprising that your clutch has last as long as it had.
You may confidently buy what's on the market either through M/Benz or factors. It could be possible to use a van clutch for the g/box but parts are easily got under the G-Wagen title, why complicate matters. I think you will noticed if the research was done, there would be very little in the difference in price saving, against the angusity of cross referencing part numbers, then doing physical measurements of the same before fitting.
Go for it,
Hi I have a LUK Repset G'wagon clutch kit still in the original box --P/n 622 0561 00 yours for GBP 150 + postage (estimated GBP 25) ......
Hi New condition... three parts pressure plate.friction disc and release bearing...The part number on the box as quoted is compatible with the OM 617 series engine 5 speed G'box interface.the general purpose clutch for the G' wagon has a slightly greater friction area and a different part number but otherwise is identical.....
Hi,
I have tried both these places merc and LUK and both do not have this cluth :S Any other ideas?
Many thanks
Joe
